WARNING:

IMPORTANT : CLEAN YOUR SAMPLE AREA
• Airborne asbestos fibers can affect breathing and lead to serious health problems.
• Use a damp rag to clean all tools, equipment, and the sample area.
• Paint/seal the cut edges of the source material (but not the sample) with waterproof sealant, such as
plastic paint or a mixture of PVA glue and water with a ratio of 1:10.
• Place the disposable gloves, clothing, and damp rag into the plastic bag with the drop sheet and in a thick plastic waste bag (at least 0.2mm) and seal shut with tape.
• Shower and wash your hair to remove any residual fibers.
• Keep unprotected people and pets away from the sampling area.
STEP-BY-STEP SAMPLE INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1: Personal protection
Turn off any airflow sources (heating or cooling systems, vents or fans) Avoid outdoor sampling in the wind.
Wear disposable protective mask and latex gloves.
Wear disposable coveralls or protective clothing.
Protect area with disposable covering while taking samples.
Fill a spray bottle and use a fine mist to wet the sample in order to reduce airborne fiber release.
STEP 2: TAKE THE SAMPLE
Use a straight blade to cut a small sample. Do not use a serrated edge or disturb the material any more than is needed.
For FIBER CEMENT SHEETING, take the sample from a corner edge or along an existing hole or crack.
Place samples in resealable bags. Be sure to label sample bags.
Bring sealed bag(s) to Rose City Laboratories.
