WATER INSTRUCTIONS

DROP OFF SAMPLE for testing

You can pick up FREE SAMPLE BOTTLES at Rose City Labs.

Some tests are TIME* and or TEMPERATURE** sensitive.

There are 2 types of water sampling: FIRST DRAW and FLUSH DRAW.

Identify your sample type from the list below, and follow sampling instructions.

FIRST DRAW

FIRST DRAW TEST will identify potential heavy metals IN the fixture. First-draw samples are intended to test the water as it has been sitting in your home’s pipes, typically overnight. The EPA recommends FIRST-DRAW SAMPLES from all fixtures used for consumption and prioritizing sampling high-risk fixtures.

• Copper
• Iron
• Lead
• Legionella (option) * **
• Manganese

FLUSH DRAW

FLUSH DRAW TEST will identify potential contaminants BEHIND the fixture. Use this method to test the water further upstream from the fixture, including the source and any distribution plumbing (city or well). Different situations may require different amounts of flush time, depending on the distance of the faucet from the source.

• Arsenic
• Chlorine
• Coliform / E. coli *
• Fluoride
• Legionella (option) * **
• Nitrate

• Pesticides
• PFAS **
• pH
• Radon
• Total Dissolved Solids
• Water Hardness
