DIVERSITY.

EQUITY.

INCLUSION.

BELONGING.

We are inclusive. At Rose City Laboratories we are committed to celebrating multiple approaches and points of view.
We believe diversity drives both ideas and innovation. We take pride in building a culture where difference is valued. Our best practices include a holistic approach when it comes to performance measures. We welcome evaluation and feedback from customers, employees, and vendors through our online Feedback Form, available on our website, as well as other review sites and social media engagement. At Rose City Laboratories, we also support employee empowerment by encouraging and implementing ideas, case studies, strategies and change in the work environment. This is accessed, discussed, and introduced through quarterly all-staff meetings, management meetings as well as regular employee annual reviews. We also have an ‘Incognito Box’, where anyone can submit an anonymous suggestion, idea or complaint.

We’re always growing our network of people, programs, and tools all designed to help employees grow and manage their careers. We foster both a top-down and grassroots approach. This gives us the freedom to address the broadest set of ideas, and integrate them into our processes. This includes continuing education courses for all of our lab and field technicians and referencing the County’s Equity and Empowerment Lens guidelines.

We provide an atmosphere of inclusion, regardless of race, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, disability status, or any other dimension of diversity. These practices also extend to our customers, employee families and vendors. Specifically, these marginalized groups include:

Black, Indigenous, people of color, and American Indian/Alaska Native people (BIPOC-AI/AN)

  • People with low-income

  • People with disabilities

  • People living in rural areas of the state

  • People who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+)

  • Immigrants and refugees

As an equal opportunity company, we provide our people with insight training and tools to help increase their awareness and understanding of differences and why they matter, so their actions can contribute to our inclusive and high-performing workplace culture. It is our intention to provide resources to our staff by posting an equity-related bulletin board with community resources, activities, and workshops for furthering individual skills both personally and professionally.

We will measure our Social Equity Plan Statement each year at the annual Managers meeting by reviewing the information collected from:

1. Feedback forms

2. Client reviews

3. Employee reviews

4. Employee suggestion forms

5. Additional information given to management

Each item will be given a score of either: 1= meeting the social equity plan or 2= not meeting the social equity plan. Managers will revisit any '2' items and seek actions to correct that score. Results will be discussed in the next monthly staff meeting.

In addition, Rose City Laboratories also seeks to comply with our equity plan by offering the following:
• Hiring qualified staff on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need - providing an atmosphere of inclusion, regardless of race, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, disability status or any other dimension of diversity.
• Providing livable wages. This includes a benefits package including employer-paid Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, PTO, employer-matched 401k plan, Flexible spending accounts for medical and dependent care, and an employee assistance program that provides free counseling on finances, drug abuse and mental health.

We meet our social equity plan in daily operations by having a quality manual the lab operates by an employee handbook given to all employees. All employees receive initial and annual training for the Code of Ethics. These are outlined and explained in our employee handbook, as well as during the interview process for new employees.

We are open to ongoing and or potential partnerships within our community that promote social equity opportunities. We foster an environment of giving back that supports employee-suggested causes and non-profits.

WHAT IS DEIB?

DIVERSITY: This is when people from all different backgrounds come together. It includes people of different races, genders, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, visible and invisible disabilities, class, or status.

EQUITY: The understanding that providing equal treatment or resources doesn’t necessarily deliver equally matching results is the foundation of equity. While many people share the same goals and dreams, the path isn’t always the same, and one might experience more hardship and obstacles than another.

INCLUSION: Celebrating diversity requires thoughtful inclusion. Everyone must be recognized and appreciated for their talents, be provided with opportunities to get involved, and have their perspectives valued and heard.

BELONGING: A sense of belonging ties diversity, equity, and inclusion together. Each group member is respected, valued, and cherished while being their authentic selves. Belonging is a feeling of a shared community.
